The Strong Blue Line
Policing runs deep in my roots, my grandfather, Roy Rupp, was a lawman. Before taking up farming fulltime, he served Mesa County, CO as a deputy and coroner. Grandpa wasn’t much of a talker, so I don’t have many stories of his lawman days. One thing I did receive from him was a collection of Louis L’Amour western books. I credit my grandfather and Mr. L’Amour for encouraging my love to read. Over the past several years, my reading was limited to study and research. But, after finishing my final degree in 2012, I returned to reading for pleasure. In my earlier years, I read about everything Mr. L’Amour wrote, so I turned to other western writers and was disappointed. So, I decided to write my own. The result was Vengeance Is Mine. The book was published by a company that had the rights to it. Last summer the company went out of business and I decided to republish the book myself. The new book is Vengeance Is Mine: The Luke Horn Saga Begins. It’s now available on Amazon in both digital ($2.99) and print ($9.99) formats. And yes, it’s yet another way to get the gospel out there.
The Fresno Bible Church in Fresno, OH ordered 103 copies of Winning a Gunfight! Here’s part of the report from one of their leaders, Dave Shelly:
Hello Mr. Rupp, I just got back from distributing 103 Winning a Gunfight books! We gave books to all the officers in the Coshocton Co. Sheriff’s Office and the West Lafayette, OH Police Dep. [We] expressed our thanks to the officers on behalf of our church. Blessings, and thank you for your service to our country through your ministry!
Thanks Fresno Bible Church! Pray these books will be used to encourage and train the officers serving in Coshocton County.
Mr. Ben Cox from Omaha, NE ordered ten books for he and his daughter to hand out to officers at the local precinct. Along with the books, the Cox’s are going to give officers some handmade gifts. What a great way to show appreciation for the officers in their community and what a teachable moment for Ben’s daughter. Great thanks to both Ben and his daughter!
In the last newsletter I mentioned that I’m going to focus more on seminar training for police officers (Winning a Gunfight seminars) and church security (Pistol in the Pulpit seminars). To that end, next month I have three seminars scheduled in Idaho, one police and two church security seminars. The police seminar will be held at the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training facility in Meridian. The church security seminars are scheduled for Idaho Falls (Watersprings Church) and Twin Falls (Heritage Alliance Church). Please keep these events in prayer.
Cop Church
Last month we had another great service at Cop Church with about 50 people out. Thanks for your prayer and support! Following the service several officers and their families hung around for 20 to 30 minutes visiting. There has also been encouraging reports from people listening to the sermons online.
Pray for your police.
